In the early summer of 2022, we undertook fieldwork in Darlington during the Platinum Jubilee and leading up to the Community Carnival, an annual event to promote community groups and celebrate residents in Stanhope Park. On both visits we also conducted research in the nearby ward, Northgate: at The Well Methodist Church, Corporation Road Primary School, Darlington Snooker Club, North Lodge Park and Ward Degnans Boxing Gym.
